Care Guide
We created this care guide so our customers can get the very best from their Consculpt piece day after day, year after year.
Your Consculpt product is made from Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete (GFRC). It will age and weather and, just like you, it will need a little love and affection every now and then.
A lot of what you’ll find here is the ‘better safe than sorry’ approach. Yes, your custom-built piece is strong and has a high level of water tolerance and stain resistance. But that doesn’t mean you should be undertaking science experiments or sick skateboarding moves on it. Instead, with a common sense mindset and a few easy maintenance tips, you can keep it looking beautiful for the years ahead.
When your new piece arrives.
Please make certain your Consculpt piece is installed correctly by trade professionals and ensure it is protected from spills, heavy objects or rough use particularly within the first month, as this will ensure the sealant has hardened appropriately over this time.
When you’re wiping down and cleaning up.
Clean as you go. Use a damp, soft microfiber cloth to prevent stains and, if necessary, a mild and non-abrasive cleaning agent. Avoid scourers and strong cleaning chemicals.
When you’ve spilled stuff.
Your Consculpt piece has a high natural tolerance against stains and our specialist sealant ensures stuff like toothpaste, soap, coffee and wine can be repelled. However no substance should stay on the surface and if there’s anything spilled on it you should clean it quickly with a mild soap and cool water. Also avoid spilling harsh substances like paint stripper, nail polish, plutonium etc on your piece, as this will destroy the sealant.
When you need to maintain those good looks.
A good application of wax will work wonders when it comes to refreshing your piece. Visually you should be able to tell when certain areas of your piece need wax. If you’re unsure we suggest giving it a maintenance wax with each new season, as this is an easy way to remember. First day of Spring? Give it a good wax and polish.
When you’re wondering what else to remember.
Keep it dry and wipe it when you can. Remember to avoid rough scourers or harsh cleaning agents. Look after your Consculpt concrete and it will look after you — providing year after year of strength and beauty, form and functionality.
